FunHouse Amsterdam is a colorful LGBTQIA+ dance event by Rapido Events. Since 2011, the party has been known for energetic house music, exuberant shows, a colorful and lively club atmosphere with striking decorations and the famous balloon shower, and an international crowd that likes to put effort into their outfits. Regular editions usually take place at the WesterUnie on the Westergasterrein. For larger FunHouse XL editions, multiple halls and the outdoor terrace of WestWeelde are used.

What is FunHouse?

FunHouse started in 2011 and grew into a fixture in Amsterdam's queer nightlife. The organization describes the concept as a colorful world full of striking shows, decorations, and the characteristic balloon rain. This is accompanied by music that the organization itself refers to as Happy house.

Not every edition is the same size. A regular FunHouse often uses the WesterUnie as its base, sometimes supplemented by the WesterLiefde and the WesterGasTerrace. During FunHouse XL, multiple spaces are usually opened, including the TransformatorHuis. As a result, there are more dance floors, different music styles, and extra space to catch your breath in between sets.

What can you expect from a FunHouse party?

The exact lineup varies by edition, but the constant ingredients are danceable house music, international DJs, performances, and an audience that visibly enjoys fashion, clubwear, and self-expression. At larger editions, each space has its own musical direction and atmosphere. This allows you to easily switch between a large main stage, a more intimate room, and the outdoor terrace throughout the night.

FunHouse is not a traditional festival with performances you have to watch from start to finish. It is mainly about dancing, walking around, meeting people, and becoming part of the colorful production yourself.
